At the age of 30, while pregnant with my second child, I was diagnosed with Stage IIB breast cancer.
I went through the whirlwind of treatment, which included surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, radiation, and finally a clinical trial. I decided to try integrative medicine as part of my treatment, and have found it to help immensely with the side effects that I have incurred.
I was inspired to create this foundation after helping to raise funds for Life After the Storm, a documentary about young women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I started After the Storm Inc. with the dream of being able to help others heal after their ordeal.
After The Storm, Inc. is a newly formed non-profit foundation whose mission is to assist cancer survivors heal from the aftermath of their diagnosis and treatments and help restore balance to their lives.
The foundation has several fund raising events scheduled this year, with profits going to benefit integrative medicine programs that help cancer patients heal their mind, body and spirit. After The Storm, Inc. is committed to helping the survivor continue on the path from “survival” to embracing “living” again. To honor the foundation’s creator and inspiration, part of the profits will be dedicated to the unique needs of breast cancer survivors.
At this time we are inviting you to participate in several ways. You may help by donating an item for raffle or auction or by becoming a sponsor of our events. In return, you will receive recognition at the event and on our website. All donations directly benefit the mission of the foundation.
This year the Foundation has chosen The Center for Integrative Medicine in Oncology at the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center to be its beneficiary.
